About Barbara

 

For more than 30 years, I’ve lived and worked in Turkey, developing and producing collections for some of the world’s leading luxury brands. My work has taken me across countries, into workshops and into conversations with the people behind remarkable fabrics and handcraft traditions.

Designing under my own name is personal. It begins with what I reach for in my own wardrobe: generous shapes, fabrics with character and details that make me look twice. I like clothes with presence, but I still want to feel like myself in them.

I think about how a piece feels throughout a day. How the fabric moves. Whether I can put my hands in the pockets. Whether a skirt can sit at my waist or lower on my hips, changing its length and attitude. These decisions are as much a part of the design as its appearance.

Living between Istanbul and the Aegean coast, I work closely with artisans whose knowledge helps shape the collection. Oya holds a particular fascination for me—the intricate handwork, its expressive forms and the possibilities of bringing it into an unexpected setting. For me, craftsmanship is in every part of a garment—in the cut, the construction and the finishing, as well as the handwork.

Most pieces are made to order, with occasional small runs. We begin with a design and a conversation: how you would like to wear it, the fit you prefer, and the fabrics and details available. There is room for your preferences, and for the individual character of the materials and the hands that work them.

We work exclusively with natural materials and collaborate with skilled local makers who share our commitment to craftsmanship. Producing in small quantities allows us to minimise waste and create pieces with intention, care and longevity.

I believe clothing should feel personal. That's why I enjoy working closely with my customers, offering guidance on fit, styling and subtle customisation to create pieces that truly become part of their lives.
